Santa Monica/ Venice
Comments
Just catching up on comments. It's been hard riding and we left the laptops in SF. Thanks everyone for checking in and even more for telling us that you did. To answer a few questions -
We ate at In-N-Out burger like 10 times already
All the good scenery pics are on the real cameras which we can start uploading when we get back to SF
I have the red bike. I would've never bought red but this bike is really cool.
Heading to Venice Beach today!!!

The west coast

Unfortunately words cannot describe the feeling you get riding Hwy 1 overlooking the most beautiful coastline and countryside imaginable.
Its even more unfortunate that pictures can't describe the feeling you get sharing all of this with the best of friends.
I'm pretty sure the man upstairs took his sweet time making this side of the country.

The Pacific has no memory

We did a lot of riding yesterday and we're on schedule. When we got to the coast we took a moment to pay respect to the Pacific and the ride that was ahead of us.
In the Shawshank Redemption Andy tells Red that the Mexicans say "the Pacific has no memory". It's overwhelming when you get here. I knew it would remind me that I could be anyone. What I didn't expect was that I didn't want to be anyone else.

All Harley guys are created equal

The great "Pappy" who came to San Francisco in 1970 treated us to coca-colas(our trip favorite) all night. We made eye contact as we darted around a cab. He saw us on the bikes and gave us this bad ass 1%er wave - fanned out pointer and middle fingers aiming to the ground. We talked about him for the next 3 hours only to find him at the cool punk rock bar "Lucky 13". He sort of worked there when he wasn't drinking there. We might have been world's apart in time and distance but we were exactly the same.
This was "the Dude". At one point he yelled at me for cleaning up after myself and bringing the empty glasses back to the bar. "put that down Jay you're on F---in vacation!" and then proceeded to throw the bar napkins on the floor. He followed that act of awesomeness by yelling at his boss to do his (pappy's)job.HAHAHA damn that was good. He asked us to keep his legacy going since he would be dead before us.
I can deal with that kind of responsibility.
